Etta James Dies at 73

Etta James, most famous for her song "At Last" has died today at the age of 73.

 

Born Jamesetta Hawkins on January 25, 1938, she was an american singer whose style covered blues, rock and roll, soul, gospel, and jazz. She started her career in 1955 and became famous off hits such as "At last", "Tell Mama", and "I'd rather go blind".

 

She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, The Blues Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and 2008. She is ranked 22 on the list of 100 greatest singers of all time and 62 on the list of 100 greatest artist of all time.

 

She is accredited with bridging the gap between rhythm and blues and rock and roll.
