Te Treebay
On the 21st of Dec, the beginnings of a historical duo began. A concert was held by Te Treebay in downtown Macon at 567. Electrifying the crowd with a unique combination of lyrics, they made a statement, a statement they knew all too well and elated the crowd. We are here and we aren’t going no where!! The two artist that make up Te Treebay, Sabir Muhammad and Jowin Okere have been rapping for a while but are just now starting to mature into the artisit they are meant to be. Creating and producing their own music, they have came up with hit songs such as "Corner Zero" and "Microwave Society", songs that we all can relate to and want to express. Creating songs that are instant classics, when they left the stage they left with fans. They are currently working on a new project and I have heard wind of possibly another concert during the summer. Me, and i'm sure many others, are waiting in anticipation for whats next. Don’t worry though, Franchised Society has all the news your looking for. Until futher notice, stay fly and keep your eyes on the sky!

Soulja Boys Got Money To Blow, Spends $55 Mil On B-Day Treat
Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em appears to be living the good life as new reports claim the "Crank That" hitmaker spent $55 million on a private jet for his 21st birthday.
Details of the luxury purchase landed online Friday (July 29).
For our 21st birthday, we bought ourselves a 40. For Soulja Boy's 21st birthday, he decided to treat himself to a $55 million dollar jet. Why? Because he's worth it. To be honest, we're seriously surprised that Soulja has that kinda cash, but then again, he did write 'Donk'. His management team, who for some reason didn't stop him said that the young rapper purchased a G5 jet earlier in the week. (The Fab Life)
Although the jet itself cost $35 million, Soulja Boy spent additional money to deck it out...

T.I. - "No Mercy" Album Release 12/07/10
Rapper T.I., who is currently serving the remainder of an 11 month prison sentence due to a recent arrest, released his seventh studio album today titled No Mercy, fresh off of the success of his recent movie Takers. The album, previously slated to be titled King Uncaged, is the final chapter in a trilogy of albums including T.I. vs. T.I.P. and Paper Trail. During an interview in April with Rap-Up.com, T.I. contrasted the style of No Mercy to that of "T.I. vs. T.I.P." stating "Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts and this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive. It’s going hard like classic T.I.” In another interview with Rolling Stone magazine, T.I. also compared the album to 2 Pac's post prison release album, All Eyez On Me, but stated, however, that he will refrain from "gun talk". So far three official singles have been released from the album (Got Your Back, Get Back Up, and I Can't Help It) along with numerous promotional releases and, quite frankly, they all sound pretty good. I guess this looks like another year T.I. will be making the "Forbes List" despite spending time behind bars...

Russell Simmons - Letter To Kanye West
Recently, Kanye West has been making some pretty historical moves in Hip Hop (i.e. consistent G.O.O.D. Friday releases as well as a 30 minute film featuring videos from his upcoming album) amidst great adversity and and turmoil. Even more recently, Russell Simmons took the time to address Kanye in the following heart-felt letter and show his appreciation and acknowlege the recent attention surrounding George W. Bush's comments on Kanye:
"Dear Kanye,
I have early recollections of Damon Dash calling me and forcing me to put you on Def Poetry Jam. I knew your record, “Through The Wire”, but I didn’t know much more. When you took the stage on Def Poetry Jam that night, and spit those genuine, heartfelt words, I witnessed your specialness that Damon had emphatically told me about.
From that moment on, you became a poet who has inspired the poets. I have proudly watched your career since then, and in case someone has missed the obvious, you are making a historical impact on music. Your life story took a tough turn with the passing of your mother. Although we grieved with you, we never really knew how much pain you were in. We witnessed your moment at the MTV Music Awards and many of us dismissed it as, “oh that is just Kanye being Kanye.” The hard part of all of this, is that we have all had moments in our lives that have been challenging, painful and hard to overcome, however most of us just hide our emotions and never deal with that inner-struggle that

Jay Electronica Joins Roc Nation
Roc Nation CEO Jay Z officiallly introduced the newest member of the Roc Nation label, Jay Electronica, to many's excitement. This signing adds Electrica to an already hot hip-hop roster consisting of acts such as J.Cole, Rhianna, and Willow Smith. The announcement, which came on November 12, came complete with a three-ring circus-esque welcome party consisting of "sexy burlesque dancers, an aerial gymnast, a Russian hula-hoop master and a girl whose "talent" was having men shoot arrows at balloons that were strategically positioned over her privates," according to Billboard.com. Jay Electriconica's lyrical approach has made him an object of much attention since 2007, but he most recently made hype with the release of Just Blaze-produced "Exhibit C" which won a Sucker Free Summit Award for Instant Classic. Bad Boy CEO Diddy, who is good friend of Jay Electronica, was apparently upset about Electroinca's signing, posting the following on twitter:
Jay's "baby momma" Erykah Badu even added to the drama, replying to Diddy with:

T.I. Drug Case Thrown Out By D.A.
It appears that the self-proclaimed "King of the South" may have once again escaped a brush with the law. The L.A. County District Attorney's office has decided to toss the drug case stemming from T.I.'s arrest early last month. This is the same case that led to his recent 11 month sentence for violating probation. On September 1, T.I. and his wife, Tiny, were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance. Originally thought to be marijuana, the substance was later revealed to have possibly been ecstasy . The District Attorney office advised that they decided not to pursue the case since T.I. will already face prison time due to his arrest being a violation of his federal probation. While this new development won't overturn his current prison sentence, it will at least prevent him from having other legal problems to worry about.
