Whitney Houston

As we all know Whitney Houston was found dead in her bath tub on February 11, 2012. The cause of her death is still unknown. She was found by her hairdresser with her face under water and her feet up as if she had slipped in the tub. It was reported that Whitney Houston was acting belligerent the night before and got into an altercation with Stacy Francis, a situation in which her boyfriend at the time Ray J had to step in and break up. She was scheduled to attend Clive Davis music show that evening making her death all the more unexpected.

We all loved Whitney Houston. It shows in her awards, she is the most awarded female artist of all time. We have all seen at least one of her 5 movies. Bodyguard being one her more critcally acclaimed movies. Everything Whitney Houston touched has been gold. She modeled, acted and sang there is nothing the talented artist could not do.

Whitney Houston will be missed!

Common Drops "Stay Schemin" Remix Drake Diss, Beef Heats Up Between Drake and Common

The internet has been buzzing since last week about a possible subliminal diss record by Drake towards Common. The aforementioned track, titled "Stay Schemin", appears on Rick Ross's "Rich Forever" mixtape, which was released last Friday. On "Stay Schemin", Drake subliminally takes shots towards the Chi-town rapper by stating, "Don't be ducking like you never wanted nothin'/It's feeling like rap changed, it was a time it was rugged/Back when if a nigga reached, it was for the weapon/Nowadays niggas reach just to sell their record."

These lines come in response to Common's song "Sweet", a track aimed at the fallacy of singing rappers, stating, "You ain't motherfuckin Frank Sinatra." Common has already issued a response, made public today, in the form of a remix to the original record by Ross and Drake...

Te Treebay

On the 21st of Dec, the beginnings of a historical duo began. A concert was held by Te Treebay in downtown Macon at 567. Electrifying the crowd with a unique combination of lyrics, they made a statement, a statement they knew all too well and elated the crowd. We are here and we aren’t going no where!! The two artist that make up Te Treebay, Sabir Muhammad and Jowin Okere have been rapping for a while but are just now starting to mature into the artisit they are meant to be. Creating and producing their own music, they have came up with hit songs such as "Corner Zero" and "Microwave Society", songs that we all can relate to and want to express. Creating songs that are instant classics, when they left the stage they left with fans. They are currently working on a new project and I have heard wind of possibly another concert during the summer. Me, and i'm sure many others, are waiting in anticipation for whats next. Don’t worry though, Franchised Society has all the news your looking for. Until futher notice, stay fly and keep your eyes on the sky!

Happy New Years From Kanye West: DJ Yeezy World Peace

Happy New Years From Kanye West, aka: Yeezy World Peace, stating that if you want him to DJ you have to book him under that name.(Sounds familiar? Lakers small- forward Ron Artest also decided to legally change his name to Metta World Peace.)

Kanye stated this via twitter by saying "My New Years DJ name is gone be YEEZY WORLD PEACE!” Yeezy tweeted on Wednesday. “If you book me you have to put YEEZY WORLD PEACE on the E-vite. Or I ain’t spinning. Ima need a stealth bomber and 2 bottled waters #YEEZYWORLDPEACE’SRIDER”. I guess its safe to say that this definitely one of West's egotistical plans that will definitely come into action.

Mr. West has a lot planned for 2012, his highly anticipated "Air Yeezy 2" sneakers are being released in March, the G.O.O.D. music compilation CD is being released  in Spring, and it was just released that Jay- Z and Mr. West were just paid 6mil. to perform at a sweet sixteen!

So from Franchised Society & Yeezy World Peace, have a G.O.O.D. New Year!!

Rosario Harper | SOHH.com | 07/29/2011

Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em appears to be living the good life as new reports claim the "Crank That" hitmaker spent $55 million on a private jet for his 21st birthday.

Details of the luxury purchase landed online Friday (July 29).

For our 21st birthday, we bought ourselves a 40. For Soulja Boy's 21st birthday, he decided to treat himself to a $55 million dollar jet. Why? Because he's worth it. To be honest, we're seriously surprised that Soulja has that kinda cash, but then again, he did write 'Donk'. His management team, who for some reason didn't stop him said that the young rapper purchased a G5 jet earlier in the week. (The Fab Life)

Although the jet itself cost $35 million, Soulja Boy spent additional money to deck it out...

T.I. - "No Mercy" Album Release 12/07/10

Rapper T.I., who is currently serving the remainder of an 11 month prison sentence due to a recent arrest, released his seventh studio album today titled No Mercy, fresh off of the success of his recent movie Takers. The album, previously slated to be titled King Uncaged, is the final chapter in a trilogy of albums including T.I. vs. T.I.P. and Paper Trail. During an interview in April with Rap-Up.com, T.I. contrasted the style of No Mercy to that of "T.I. vs. T.I.P." stating "Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts and this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive. It’s going hard like classic T.I.” In another interview with Rolling Stone magazine, T.I. also compared the album to 2 Pac's post prison release album, All Eyez On Me, but stated, however, that he will refrain from "gun talk". So far three official singles have been released from the album (Got Your Back, Get Back Up, and I Can't Help It) along with numerous promotional releases and, quite frankly, they all sound pretty good. I guess this looks like another year T.I. will be making the "Forbes List" despite spending time behind bars...

Russell Simmons - Letter To Kanye West

Recently, Kanye West has been making some pretty historical moves in Hip Hop (i.e. consistent G.O.O.D. Friday releases as well as a 30 minute film featuring videos from his upcoming album) amidst great adversity and and turmoil. Even more recently, Russell Simmons took the time to address Kanye in the following heart-felt letter and show his appreciation and acknowlege the recent attention surrounding George W. Bush's comments on Kanye:
  "Dear Kanye,

I have early recollections of Damon Dash calling me and forcing me to put you on Def Poetry Jam.  I knew your record, “Through The Wire”, but I didn’t know much more.  When you took the stage on Def Poetry Jam that night, and spit those genuine, heartfelt words, I witnessed your specialness that Damon had emphatically told me about.

From that moment on, you became a poet who has inspired the poets.  I have proudly watched your career since then, and in case someone has missed the obvious, you are making a historical impact on music.  Your life story took a tough turn with the passing of your mother.  Although we grieved with you, we never really knew how much pain you were in.  We witnessed your moment at the MTV Music Awards and many of us dismissed it as, “oh that is just Kanye being Kanye.” The hard part of all of this, is that we have all had moments in our lives that have been challenging, painful and hard to overcome, however most of us just hide our emotions and never deal with that inner-struggle that

Jay Electronica Joins Roc Nation

Roc Nation CEO Jay Z officiallly introduced the newest member of the Roc Nation label, Jay Electronica, to many's excitement. This signing adds Electrica to an already hot hip-hop roster consisting of acts such as J.Cole, Rhianna, and Willow Smith. The announcement, which came on November 12, came complete with a three-ring circus-esque welcome party consisting of "sexy burlesque dancers, an aerial gymnast, a Russian hula-hoop master and a girl whose "talent" was having men shoot arrows at balloons that were strategically positioned over her privates," according to Billboard.com. Jay Electriconica's lyrical approach has made him an object of much attention since 2007, but he most recently made hype with the release of Just Blaze-produced "Exhibit C" which won a Sucker Free Summit Award for Instant Classic. Bad Boy CEO Diddy, who is good friend of Jay Electronica, was apparently upset about Electroinca's signing, posting the following on twitter:

Jay's "baby momma" Erykah Badu even added to the drama, replying to Diddy with:

Electronica or Hov, however, have not released any comments on this matter and are more than likely preparing for "bigger" things to come...

BANNED: Lil Wayne, No Alcohol For 3 Years

According to Lil Wayne's probation documents, the New Orlean's rapper is not allowed to "consume or drink any substance containing alcohol". In addition to the alcohol ban, the documents, which went in to effect yesterday, also hold the following stipulations:
  • Wayne is prohibited from knowingly associating with any person engaged in criminal activity or any person with a criminal record without prior written approval from the probation department.
  • Wayne cannot possess illegal drugs, toxic vapors or controlled substances.
  • He is also required to submit to drug and alcohol testing, per the probation dept.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but um... I thought all of the above is what Weezy is pretty much famous for. In addition, it's no telling how this will affect his prison release party, which is scheduled for this weekend at King Of Diamonds in Miami. He reportedly already has 48 bottles of PJ Rose Perrier-Jouët champagne pre-paid for, each with a price tag of $700. Oh well, I guess the only bottles Wayne himself will be poppin' is Dasani and he'll have to stick to sippin' the cranberry juice straight.

T.I. Drug Case Thrown Out By D.A.

It appears that the self-proclaimed "King of the South" may have once again escaped a brush with the law. The L.A. County District Attorney's office has decided to toss the drug case stemming from T.I.'s arrest early last month. This is the same case that led to his recent 11 month sentence for violating probation. On September 1, T.I. and his wife, Tiny, were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance. Originally thought to be marijuana, the substance was later revealed to have possibly been ecstasy . The District Attorney office advised that they decided not to pursue the case since T.I. will already face prison time due to his arrest being a violation of his federal probation. While this new development won't overturn his current prison sentence, it will at least prevent him from having other legal problems to worry about.
